Pain on the outside of the knee is the ugly cousin to that pain we get from the inside of knee.
Some say it’s IT band tightness or potential LCL sprains.
In some cases it could be, but like last week, in most cases it’s not.
Last week we talked about how inside knee pain occurs from twists, now we can talk about how the outside pain comes from yet again……..
…. A twist.
In this case the foot may be a little flatter, so the arch needs to be lifted (that's what the foot elevation in the video does by unloading the leg).
The shin bone is turned out at a maximum and the femur is turning in. In the video, the foot turning in helps unlock the knee and untwist the position we are stuck in.
Now we know how this little annoyance comes about, below is a potential solution to treating that nagging little clicking sensation you get on the outside of your knee.
